Salary Arrear Query

Good Morning Sir
 client is working in muncipal corporation last year FY 22-23 he has told me that he received arrears of 7th pay commission and provided me arrear sheet, i considered total arrear amount provided in sheet and calulated relief accordingly ( in that arrear sheet total arrear amount provided but total arrear was not received in FY 22-23  it was getting paid in EMIS) and filed return last year ,now this year  he has received one emi of arrear in FY 23-24 which is included this years for 16 salary.
How i can correct this mistake
and what implecations are there please guide

In ITR (income tax return). arrears of salary received should be shown in the following places:

  1. Schedule S: Show the arrears of salary received in Schedule S, which is for reporting salary income,
  2. Schedule El: if the arrears are related to a previous year, show the amount in Schedule El, which is for reporting income from previous years.
  3. Schedule Sl: If the arrears are exempt from tax (e.g.under Section 89(1) show the amount in Schedule Sl, which is for reporting exempt income. 
  4. Additionally:
  5. Form 10E: If your are claiing relief under section 89(1)for arrears of salary, file Form 10E.
  6. Note: Mention the details of arrears, including the year to which it relates, in the "Notes" section of the ITR.
