In a Manufacturing company safety depatment laying penalty on contractor.What will be accounting treatment of penalty.

Dear Manoj,
If loss suffered by company against which penalty is imposed is determined than reduce the penalty amount from that loss otherwise charge it thorugh miscellanous income.
