Revised form 16

Hi Everyone, I am having an issue with my previous employer for not revising the form16 ( I have worked there for two month in Financial year 2013-2014). He has issued a form16 with incorrect amount where he shown ‘House Rent Allowance’ is Taxable Amount while it was exempt. He has not considered my Rent slip. When I contacted my previous employer, Payroll department is refusing to revise the Form-16 as they are saying that it cannot be revised. I am not saying to reverse the deducted tax amount but Taxable Income should be revised due to HRA in form-16. Please let me know whether Form-16 can be revised or not. Thanks, Umesh Kumar

Yes. Employer has to issue revised form 16. After claiming HRA exemption taxable amt will be reduced and then you can claim refund while filing of income tax return. Employer has to file revise TDS Return then it will correctly reflect in your Form 26AS.
yes form 16 can be revised. but if prev. enployer is doing nothing then claim deduction of such hra in your itr.
To Mr. Aditya. Sir if I claim hra in my itr.. It will lead to difference in gross salary in form 16 A and my itr. Is this will create any problem.. actually I failed to submit proof of hra exemption to my employer.. what to do now.. Pls help
