You should rectify this mistake as per sec 154 by sending a letter to ITO.

You should apply for rectification without waiting for Intimation from IT department.

You can wait but after consider following-
1. It should not be time bar
2.ITO does not understant as suppresion of facts and impose any penalty

Yes.
It should be noted that rectification can be by assessee himself/AO.So You can apply Online for rectification of mistake u/s 154.

Dear Ashwin,
As rightly pointed out by you a rectification plea U/s 154 can only be requested to rectify either an Order/Intimation. Since you have not yet received an Intimation for the return filed you may not be able to request for rectification U/s 154.
However, you should point this mistake in writing to the jurisdictional AO and move ahead with rectifications once you receive the intimation.

I agree with you sir.
Without order , rectification cannot made.
