Return filing of ay. 2010-11

Can anybody please tell me that whether can I file ITR for A.Y. 2010-11 and later years at current date ???

I only have rental income which is not exceeding maxmimum limit of slab...

please help me

Under section 139(4) a belated return can be filed before the expiry of one year from the end of relevant assessment year or before the completion of assessment whichever is earlier.

But if u dont have any taxable income as u dont need to file return (unless u need to claim back TDS deducted refund on that).

In case u want to file ITR u can do it for A.Y 2011-12 & A.Y 2012-13.

for Ay 10-11 the last date was 31 Mar 2012. so you can only file return for ay11-12 onwards ..

Hi all tax-experts,

I am a retired lady of 63 yrs. I hadn't filed IT return for AY2010-2011 because I had no tax liablility. My income after deductions with 80C being below Rs190000/- which was a taxfree limit for a woman . Now I need to file return for AY2010-2011 for visa purpose. Can I efile the return now? if not efile then can I i file it in hardcopy? what will be penulty for me when I had no tax liablitliy at that time?

u can file return before 31march 2012 if ur total income is below190000 then no penalty will be levied .

thanks for the reply to my querry. but now since March 2012 is past. so what is the solution?

Can I file it any time after todya?

Hello snehal mam, in case your total income is more than taxable limit before deduction under chapter VI A , i.e, sec-80c etc

then you need to compulsory required to file your return. In case of failure to file ITR penalty of Rs 5000 will be levid.

and upto 31st march 2013 u can file ITR for AY 2011-12

and upto 31st july 2012 ITR for A.Y 2012-13 i.e due date for original return u/s 139(1)

and after 31st july 2012 but upto 31st march 2014 for A.Y 2012-13 i.e belated return in case u are not able to file the return in due date.

u cant file return for AY 10-11 now.

Thanks for reply to my querry. It did solve it. I have already efiled the returns for AY2011-12 and AY2012-13. It was the question of only AY2010-11 which was not filed.
