Dear ICAI, please allow CA students to fill details in descripttive and OMR answer sheets during the 15 minutes of reading time. It will allow us to save some precious minutes of writing time.
The petition is initiated because the situations are different at all the exam centers.
If the room is big and there are 4 rows of benches and only a single invigilator in the room, he starts distributing the answer sheet and OMR sheet when the bell rings at 2 PM and by the time he reaches the 4th row, the students has already lost some minutes and looses further in filling the details. Sometimes, the invigilator is aged and due to slow reflexes the situation gets worse further.
Situation also doesn’t change much even if the room is small or medium.
If the answer sheet and OMR sheet are given in the beginning with the question paper, we can use 5 mins. out of 15 mins. of reading time to fill the details and save our writing time because after the introduction of MCQs and OMR sheets in exams, we have to fill various details in bullets before we start writing the answers.
Here, some students may try to take advantage by starting writing early. So, ICAI can be more stringent here and should penalize the students in time for this over smartness.
Some ICAI observers at the center understands the value of time and take the initiative themselves to distribute the answer sheets quickly to students. But this does not happen always and everyone can’t get benefit from it.
So, it’s just a small technical change which ICAI needs to do but will benefit many students immensely in completing their paper within the allotted time.
