Hi,
But in the income tax act it is no where mentioned that employer has to keep original copy in his records. Besides this employees prefer to file their income tax return in the circle of the city where they permanently resides. If there is any scrutiny case on the employee and if the office of the company, where he has given the rent reciepts has been closed, or transfered to any oher city or they did not give to employee at the time of assessment than how he is going to provide the original rent reciepts to the aseesing officer at the time of assessment. The landlord has also not filed his return than the tax burden will come to innocent employee, he will be going to be punished for no fault done.
