service tax on rent of immovable property exempted??? dont know whether it is correct or not. but its published in DC paper. please comment if u know anything about it

Hey, I checked the same.
I think the paper was referring to renting of residential property which has been exempted from Service tax vide the newly introduced Negative list of services.
Rest all kind of renting of immovable property (except some) are mentioned in Declared Services, hence, fully chargeable to tax.
