RELIEF U\S 89, SALARY RECEIVED IN ARREER

Tax queries 545 views 2 replies

SIR / MADAM,

I AM A GOVT. EMPLOYEE AND I RECEIVED AREER  AS PER SIXTH PAY REVISION OF SCALES DURING THE F.Y.2009-10. I DID NOT CLAIM THE SAID RELIEF FROM MY D.D.O.AT THE TIME OF SUBMITTING MY TAX STATEMENT TO THE DEPTT.

CAN I CLAIM THE SAME NOW AT THE TIME OF MY FILING RETURN FOR THE ASSESSMENT YEAR 2010-2011

Income tax Return filed is the ultimate statement which shows your previous year annual income.

So you can mention full details of your income in the return either they are mentioned in other statements like form-16/16A or not.

So while filing the AY 2010-11 Return you can claim relief after mentioning the arrears.

In our office ( Central Govt) arrear salary was received as per 6th cpc in 2009 & 2010.  Unfortunately, the tax has been deducted at the years the arrears were paid. None has claimed in form 16.

Most of them have to submit the ITRs now before 31 July, 2010.

Can some expert please suggest that what should we do now?

It will be a reat help
