We applied for new registration for taking GST number.adhar was in the name of proprietor and was duly approved by clicking the link send by department on e mail. principal place of work is different and the electricity bill uploaded which was in the name of proprietor.
officer has rejected the application stating that residential address is not matching with adhar please provide any other residential proof and apply again.
please let me know if there is any
provision that the address of residence and work place should be same...
what should I do now.?

You have no option but to file fresh registration. It is surprising that no query was asked by the officer instead he rejected the application directly without issuing SCN and providing an opportunity. Address of residence and work place need not be same.

There is no temporary reference number. Gst registration applied will give a reference number.
Before GSTIN is alloted , there will be Temporary registration number, through which only application for GST registration has to be completed
I do agree with you , either I appeal against this unjustifiable rejection order. They send me SNC and I have replied with all the facts,still he rejected. or I should apply fresh registration
I have applied fresh registration as the first process may take long time.

Just feed the residential address same as in Aadhar and apply again.
Residential address can be different from work place .
Need not be same .
If office is in rented premises , you must upload rental agreement

Going through appeal is a longer process, rather you should apply again.
Using temporary red no , you can rectify the defect and upload the appropriate proof .

I think you have not handled this kind of issue. I have already gave answer but you are not understanding. But your focus is on finding wrong in right answer
