The mediclaim is being paid by the employer? If yes, then in my view.
Reimbursement of medical expenses is exempt in the hands of the employee. If such medical reimbursement includes mediclaim premium. Then deduction can be claimed U/s.80D since it is dealt with at computation level.
We can wait for other views as well.

If the mediclaim policy is taken by the employer on employees and premium is paid by employer, then 80D is not available in the hands of employee. The amount does not enter Form 16 of the employee.
