recently there is a hip replacement surgery done to family member can we have income tax exemption on those hospital bills and surgery

Dear Pori, Yes, Exemption upto Rs. 15,000 can be claimed.Excess amount shall be taxable as perks. Family means For the purposes of this clause, “family”, in relation to an individual, means— (i) the spouse and children of the individual ; and (ii) the parents, brothers and sisters of the individual or any of them, wholly or mainly dependent on the individual; ]
