can I take ITC on goods purchase before generation of Gst number by providing Gst number to supplier now?

Yes...You need to issue Revised Invoice for that.
Just the condition is that you must have applied for registration within 30 days of becoming liable to registration.

If you have revised invoice after the register / effective date of Registration then only you can avail the ITC benefits otherwise no way...
