Refund Defective return

Hi

Someone has filed the return and its becomes defective. he has submitted the reply for defective return however he didnt get the refund amount. on main dashboard it is showing status as defective however if go under that acknowledgement number you will see the another acknowledgement number which has been generated after filing the response of defective notice under section 139(9). and there you will see the status ITR FILED.

can you please let me know what should we do in thos case?
