Kindly clarify whether rebate u/s 87A for FY 2013-14 is applicable on the amount of taxable salary (after all deductions including chapter VI-A deduction) or from total earnings including basic, DA, HRA, Conveyance etc.

This rebate u/s 87A shall be available to assessee whose income is less than 5 lacs. The total income tax shall be reduced by Rs. 2,000/- before availing deductions under chapter VI
