Dear Sir /Madam, I'm a salaried person. Neither I get any medical allowance nor reimbursement against medical bills. So, can I deduct the amount of medical bills paid in previous year from my taxable income? If yes, so how much amount and under which IT section it can be done?

there is no such provision,

uneder 80D you can claim MEDICAL INSURANCE PREMIUM PAID,  but can not claim expenses done on medical treatment

Dear Sir,

Thanks for the reply.

But I read some where Rs. 5000/- can be deducted from Taxable Income u/s 80D for medical check up and Some exemption are also allowed u/s 17(2).

Kindly clarify.

under section 17, both the expenses are allowed if paid by employer,

employee has no option to claim it by own
