Can he also claim the same amount of medical insurance premium paid by him as a deduction u/s. 80D too.

yes, if he pays medical insurance premium by cheque or other form of bank transfer he can claim deduction under section 80D.

hello,
you can claim deductions for wht u pay.so its a simple logic ,u cnnot claim benefit for wht u havent paid,so your not eligible

As the medical premium is being reimbeursed by the employer, the same cannot be claimed as deduction u/s 80D double benefit cannot be claimed by the employee.
Also, the reimbursement wil not be chargeable to tax.
