Rate of vat/salestax for split & window ac for diff states

   Mr Shri,

  All types of room cooler and air conditioners(split and window)and plants are chargeable with 14%vat in Karnataka.Same way in Kerala, TN and AP . As it is a luxury goods in all staates it is liable for full vat........MJK

Thanks for the information. I have visited respective states sales tax websites. The rates are as follows, which are nearly the same you have mentioned. 1) Kerala: 13.5, 2) TamilNadu: 14.5, 3) Andhra Pradesh: 14.5, 4) Karnataka: The product Split  & Window AC is showing under 5th Schedule (Input Tax Restricted Goods). Can you pls tell the meaning of this or the rate applicable for such goods.

If anyone have knowledge of vat rates other than above states, please update me.
