What is the correct rate of TDS (20% or 10%) for payment of interest to companies for Assessment Year 2010-11 (Financial year 31.03.2010_.
In Taxman book it has been mentioned as 10%. However in lot of websites the rate has been mentioned as 20%. In the Income Tax Department of Bangalore website the rate has been mentioned as 20%.
If the rate is 10% please inform the date of notification or circular...etc

PAYMENT OF INTEREST TO DOMESTIC COMPANIES - 10%
PAYMENT OF INTEREST TO A RESIDENT OTHER THAN DOMESTIC COMPANIES - 10%
THRESHOLD LIMIT IS RS. 5,000/- .
ITS 10% IN BOTH CASES
EITHER COMPANY OR NON COMPANY

194A tds applicable only 10% only( not charge surcharge + education cess after 19.08.2009 )after 01.10.2009 or ( all status of income tax assessee)

its 10% for all the assessee w.e.f 01.10.2009. without surcarge & e.c
itz 10% for companies as well as non companies with a threshold limit of Rs.5,000/-
