The first ingredient of success is desire. . Your desire for success must be so strong within you that it's the very breath of your life. It must be your first thought when you wake in the morning, and your last thought when you go to bed at night.

After determining to do excellent only in life; now  you have to focus on how to do excellent ?

Whenever you do anything; ask  yourself whether you are doing excellent :

(I am taking the example of Studies).

1. Strategy towards studies - Knowledge Vs. Scoring of Marks (both are important ).

2. Collecting all the relevant Materials (i.e. books, notes, compilations etc.)and Arranging them for easy access.

3. Full Concentration the studies

2. Good Planning

(proper allocation of time to each subject according to your own command and interest)

3. Using Mnemonic Techniques

(For such Techniques : Search Google)

4. Using Fast Reading Techniques

(First try to read as fast as possible without understanding any thing. When you feel tired; make your reading speed slow with understanding. Again when you feel fresh; go fast, repeat the procedure).

5. Forming Groups for Regular Discussion

(Allocate tough topics between  various students and then discuss to have command - Basic Principle is Divide and Rule)

6. Regular Updation

(caclub is not for gossip only, find good materials which is already here)

7. Surprise Check of Self (to overcome fear at the time of exams)

8. Preparing the topic as if you have to give a lecture (to have a great command on the subject).

9. Professional value of a subject (count in terms of money if you wish to make a career  in that area)

10. Above all, try yourself how to find pleasure in Reading !

From Warren Buffet's 2008 Annual Report -

At Borsheims, sales increased 15.1%, helped by a 27% gain during Shareholder Weekend. Two years ago, Susan Jacques suggested that we remodel and expand the store. I was skeptical, but Susan was right.

Susan came to Borsheims 25 years ago as a $4-an-hour saleswoman. Though she lacked a managerial background, I did not hesitate to make her CEO in 1994. She’s smart, she loves the business, and she loves her associates. That beats having an MBA degree any time.

If a man hasn't discovered something that he will die for, he isn't fit to live.
Martin Luther King, Jr., speech, Detroit, Michigan, June 23, 1963.

The message I wish to send across is that one should do what he/she is passionate about. By doing that one wouldnt end up taking up the wrong courses/choose a wrong career and keep failing. And once you realise what you are passionate about, do it, dont consider what the world would say/think. This was shown in the film 3 idiots, where a person who was passionate about photography was doing enginnering, but when that passion was woken up, a bold decision had to be taken.

There are various reasons for failures, lack of interest is surely one of the main ones. The above is for people of that kind who fail in exams because their interests are in some other things. Such failures shouldnt bother you.
