No. He cannot claim exemption if he doesnt pay any rent. The condition is that he should pay rent in excess of 10% of salary.

yeah, that's true. the person can not claim any deduction if he does not pay any rent.

If you look it practically every body is claiming deduction even if they are living with parents.......you jsut need to but rent reciept and 1rupee revenue stamp and show that you are paying rent to your Dad, or Mom,or Wife, or son or, daughter etc.
But yes as per Law it is not possible.....still there are ways to crack the Law.
