I have a problem in share based payment from institute's study material illustation no. 8 page no. 7.28. I am unable to understand from where the no. of shares outstanding have been calculated for computing basic EPS Pg 732. Please clarify my doubt.

Hi. I observed this while doing the same. There is no logical explanation in the question by which the shares outstanding of 4,00,000 shall be calculated. It should have been there as part of the question. Therefore the question is clearly incomplete in this regard. You will have to assume it to be the specified number.
