If a credit note is generated by the supplier, the supplier is required to file the same as part of gstr1 and 3b.
If a debit note has been prepared by the recipient, then no need to disclose in gstr1 of the recipient, interest ITC to be manually reduced from gstr3b. Further, insist the supplier to issue a credit note against such debit note.

In GST, purchase returns shall be shown in GSTR 1 return. There is one separate column in GST return where in the taxpayer can show the all the purchase return made during the given period. However, this is treated as “debit note” in GSTR 1 return. Therefore, one needs to show it under debit note column.

GSTR1 is for the seller to file, with information on sales only (sales and sales returns). No purchase information goes in this return.
