Pros and Cons of starting CA Coaching Class

Hi Professional Colleagues and Friends, need a bit of help from you all.

1.What are the things which one may require if he is interested in starting a coaching centre for CA students(objective is not to earn money alone but also to provide good guidance, knowledge, exam oriented study strategies preferably to students from lower middle class and poor family backgrounds)

2.What are the pros and cons of starting a CA coaching centre in Tier1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities?

3. Last but not the least what are the skills and mindset required for a person who is interested in starting a CA coaching centre.

I need balanced views on this. Please provide both the plus and minus of your views so as to enable me to take a balanced decision

HELLO MR.INVINSIBLE,

FIRSTLY U HAVE TO DECIDE ON THE TYPE OF COACHING CLASSES U INTEND TO ESTABLISH I.E WHETHER PRIVATE TUITIONS OR OPENING A COACHING CENTER BY HIRING/BUYING A ROOM.
THIS DEPENDS ON THE CAPITAL AVAILABLE WITH U.IF U HAVE ADEQUATE CAPITAL THEN U MAY GO FOR BUYING A CLASSROOM.IF CAPITAL IS A PROBLEM THEN BETTER TO GO FOR PRIVATE TUITIONS I.E DELIVERING LECTURES AT STUDENTS PLACE,YOUR RESIDENCE OR SOME OTHER PLACE ACCORDING TO CONVENIENCE OF BOTH THE PARTIES.

SECONDLY IT IS VERY MUCH IMPORTANT TO HAVE SUFFICENT KNOWLEDGE OF THE SUBJECTS OF CA COURSE AS STUDENTS MAY ASK ANY KIND OF DOUBT WHICH NEEDS TO BE CLARIFIED.MERE GUESS WORK MAY NOT HELP AS STUDENTS ARE SMART ENOUGH TO GOOGLE THE SAME.

THIRDLY THE MARKET COMPETITORS ALSO PLAY A VITAL ROLE.IN CITIES LIKE MUMBAI WHERE THERE ARE MANY COACHING CENTERS BUT QUALITY IS ABSOLUTELY POOR TO SAY THE LEAST,U NEED TO GRAB A MIX FROM ALL THE COACHING CENTERS.(POSITIVE ONES)

YOU SAY THAT UR OBJECTIVE IS NOT TO EARN MONEY BUT TO PROVIDE KNOWLEDGE,IN THAT CASE TRY TO CAPTURE THE MIDDLE-LOW INCOME GROUP STUDENTS WHO MAY NOT BE ABLE TO PAY HEFTY FEES WHICH THE BIG CLASSES CHARGE.ALSO U NEED TO PROVIDE SUFFICIENT INPUTS LIKE GOOD NOTES(EITHER HANDWRITTEN OR PRINTED) SO THAT STUDENTS WILL HAVE THE ADDED INCENTIVE OF JOINING UR CLASS.(MOST STUDENTS JOIN CLASSES FOR NOTES)

AND FINALLY UPDATED KNOWLEDGE IS VERY MUCH ESSENTIAL (DT,IDT,CO.LAW).U NEED TO HAVE A GOOD TEAM INCASE MANY SUBJECTS ARE TO BE TAUGHT AS A SINGLE PERSON WILL FIND IT DIFFICULT TO SPECIALISE IN EVERYTING.(ALSO SUCH TEAM MEMBERS MUST BE TRUSTWORTHY)

Friend I do't run or own any coaching Institute but has experience as a student and also as a assistant at one of the coaching institute so just want to nit advice but express what i feel as answer of your questions...

1. AT first what you will required is a a good place and infrastructure , well connected throught transport means

2. good teacher having sufficient and specialised knowledge most preferably a CA/ CS

3. Quality notes recently amended and with simple and impressive contents.

4. some publicity (preferably at back of some book or through some giving discount to meritorious )

5. and some good staff so that they can handle the matter , a teacher should not deal in tiny things such as fees collection, mat issue, etc etc,

6. and most important good relation with old student , they will bring new one !!

2.What are the pros and cons of starting a CA coaching centre in Tier1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities?

In Tier cities it is quite easy to start a tuitions but really difficult to make a success as virtual classes of Eten, Bright Professional , VG sir etc are there....these virtual class has eminent teachers and faculties .... and further there you have great and establish and specialised teacher ............ so if possible it is better to go for a tie up with some teacher ..

In tier - 2 A bit easy but now a days it has same problem as of Tier 1 cities, but if you have good contact and knowledge (backed by your professional degree CA/CS/ CWA or combination of them ), in some years when your student will give good result .. you will be established..

and Tier -3 due to low awareness not much CA tuitions are developed but CA is now growing and you can establish you centre will average infrastructure and knowledge a bit easier then tier -1 and tier 2 cities, but again success depends on result of your students /

Last but not the least what are the skills and mindset required for a person who is interested in starting a CA coaching centre.

1. one or more Good professional degree

2. Apt and specialised knowledge

3. Recently amended not only on new provision but also on nre question patters, market knowledge about CA/ CS course

4. great sense of Humour

3. Avid reader

6. and must has good argument and speaking and communication ability

Everything has its pros and cons. That is the same case with coaching. We will see to it in detail-

Pros

1. Approach the instructor

Since you are in a class, you can clear your doubts by approaching the instructor who will help you with you doubts. You can use the experience of the professors who have prepared students for numerous attempts. Due to specialization, they have become experienced in this filed.

2. No chance of procrastination

As you have to attend you coaching, you cannot procrastinate studying due to the scheduled lectures.

So this develops a disciplined approach towards the exam and chances of passing increase.

3. Study material

Many coaching institute provide their own study material to the students which is a great asset as this study material is in summarized form and will help you while revising the topics.

Cons

1. Travelling time

A lot of time is wasted while in transit. You would have been able to utilize that time for a good cause. At the same time, your schedule will be very hectic and stressful. You can counter this by preferring online coaching.

2. Instructor has their own pace.

You will have to move at the same pace as your instructor. Instructor may teach you at a very fast speed and you will get very less time for self-study.

3. Limited Instructor interaction in case of huge class size: If the class size is very large, you might not always be able to have good interaction with your instructors.

In the end, it does not, matter if you are having your coaching or not. It only matter that are you able to write answers. That is what will fetch you marks.
