can anyone clarify me on this matter...

at what percentage is professional tax calculated...

and on what amount it is calculated...

whether it is on the employees fixed gross salary or earned gross salary...

i m in chennai....

Which state? In Assam there is no such prcentage basis.

Profession tax is calculated on the basis of slabs as follow: Salary Tax upto Rs.2500 NIL 2500 to 3500 Rs.60 P.M. 3500 to 5000 Rs.120 PM 5000 to 10000 Rs.175 PM 10000> Rs.200 pm (Except for Feb, Rs.300/- being Rs.2500/- pa) SAlary means Gross SAlary

Dear Members, Being rules, act and rates of taxes are different in case of VAT and Professional Taxes, may I request you all to invariably mention the name of the concerne state in your queries and replies.

Dear, Professional Tax deducted as per salary slabs decided by state government. It varies statewise. Kindly mention your state name.
