A director of a private limited company, who is NRI, has to pay profession tax if he is not getting remuneration from the company???

no because professional tax is only applicable on salaried person as per my view.

Proffessional tax is paid by salaried person ...
when he doesn't receive remuneration ,
then there is no need of proffessional tax.
