New Delhi, Jan. 27 Audit firm Price Waterhouse on Tuesday said it has suspended Mr S. Gopalakrishnan and Mr Srinivas Talluri of all their duties and functions as partners, pending completion of the investigations into the Satyam issue.
In the Satyam Computer Services case, the role of statutory auditors — Price Waterhouse is under scanner. Both Mr Gopalakrishnan and Mr Srinivas Tulluri had separately attested the financial statements of the fraud-hit company for different years on behalf of Price Waterhouse.
A statement issued by Price Waterhouse said that neither partner would play any part in client matters, while they are suspended. “They will undertake no activities on behalf of PW and have been advised to co-operate fully with the ongoing inquiries regarding Satyam. As the investigations proceed, PW will continue to evaluate the situation,” statement added.
Meanwhile, in a separate statement, Price Waterhouse said its assurance leader Mr Thomas Mathew will step down from this role with immediate effect. Mr Mathew had no connection with the audit of Satyam.
“In light of the present situation, however, he believes it would be appropriate for him to relinquish his management position. Mr Mathew will remain a PW partner. PW will appoint a new assurance leader in the near future,” the statement said.
