PM discharged from AIIMS after surgery

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was today discharged from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, where he underwent redo bypass heart surgery on January 24.Health Minister A Ramdoss said following his discharge that he was recovering very fast and was already reading official files. At this pace he would come to office in three weeks, he said.He said that the Prime Minister was cheerful and was walking and enquiring about various things. We asked him to go a little slow.Once he is home his recovery will be quicker. It will take him two to three weeks to come to office, said the minister adding that he would be working from him in a week.He said that the Prime Minister walked for very long in the institute yesterday about 500 meters.The Prime Minister left for home at 7 Race Course Road today at 0750 hrs.Pre-discharge tests were conducted on the Prime Minister yesterday and his discharge today was certain.Institute sources said that he would continue to receive the medical treatment and care at home that he was being given at the institute. Dr Srinath Reddy his personal physician and a cardiologist formerly from the AIIMS would be heading the team even as a member of the team which operated on him would remain with it.Dr Ramakant Panda of the Asian Heart Institute who conducted the surgery would stay on for two more days to take care of the Prime Minister.
