are banks allowed to take deduction of the provision on doubtful debts only in the year in which such provision is made.?
Or we can take them also in the next year when such provisions are carried forward?

To my understanding, it is for that year itself and thus there ia separate section 36 (1) (viia) with the mechanism for the computation.
