If the letters in word "DAUGHTER" are to be arranged so that vowels occupy the odd places, then number of different words are?

plz answer my query and explain.

There are 3 vowels and 5 consonants. 3 vowels to be arranged in 4 odd places. 4P3 and 5 consonants can be arranged in 5P5 ways. 4P3 * 5P5 = 2880

how 3vowels can be arranged in 4P3????why can't 5 consonants can be arranged in 6P5 ways...?
