If you have received any portion of your salary in arrears or in advance, or your have received family pension in arrears, you are allowed some tax relief under section 89(1) read along with Rule 21A.

Thank you sir. Can u also suggest where the navy pension arrears  has to be shown in Form 10E There are 4 options: -

1) Salary Arrears

2) Gratuity Arrears

3) Commuted Pension Arrears

4) Compensation on Termination

I know that 2 and 4 are not related so kindly clarify if this pension has to be shown as SALARY ARREARS OR COMMUTED PENSION ARREARS ?

  • Commuted Pension which is lump sum payment received at the time of retirement
  • Uncommuted pension which is monthly pension received by employee after retirement

Here the pension received is monthly pension, though received in arrears......

Which is equivalent to salary ............. So, 'Salary Arrears'

Thanks a lot sir

Most Welcome....... Ma'm
