Should PCC student study EXCISE, CUSTOM, SALES TAX, SERVICE TAX, for his Audit work.
Because during the course of Audit, we need knowledge from those tax laws. If we do not study we may not perform effective Audit.
If PCC student study, they will feel shortage of time for their PCC preparation.
What you say .........

We have to be a professional well equipped to deal with any type of situation.....it should not be that just because one was ignorant about tax laws so he could not perform effective audit....We have to keep our eyes & ears open....only he who is bestowed with common sense can be a good auditor....I think restricting oneself because of PCC is suicidal as PCC is only a stage but continuing professional development is a ongoing process which ideally never should stop....PCC is one of the stops in this life long journey..Updated knowledge enhances quality...We are in the services profession.....When one is studying...one should concentrate on studying but must be aware of developments in his or her arena...

I agree with you . its ok we are in the service profession.
My query was not related to updation of knowledge.
My query was SHOULD PCC STUDENT STUDY EXCISE , CUSTOM ETC FOR AUDIT PURPOSE
Because UPDATION COMES AFTER BASIC KNOWLEDGE OF THE SUBJECT. ONE WHO DOES NOT KNOW ANYTHING OF EXCISE , CUSTOM ETC. How can he be updated.
If one wants to be updated, he must study the subject throughly first, thereafter he can be updated.

I DONT AT ALL AGREE WITH SWAPNIL SHAH ON THE POINT OF KNOWING GST...WELL IN ADVANCE EVEN WHEN IT HAS NOT BE INTRODUCED AS CA STUDENTS...EVEN MANY CAs ARE NOT AWARE OF GST TODAY...SO WHAT IS THE MEANING IT IS FOR PCC STUDENT WHO IS STILL IS IN THE PROCESS OF KNOWING AND DEVELOPING HIS BASIC KNOWLEDGE....COME ON YAR BE PRACTICAL...................
