Kindly tell me whether the principal employer is liable to pay bonus in respect of contractual employees (persons employed through a contractor)?
Kindly quote relevant provisions of the Act or any judicial pronouncements/case laws.

Contractual Employees come under Temporary workmen
A temporary Workman eligible for bonus on the basis of total number of days worked by them
Its the principal employer who will pay the bonus not the contractor
Previously employees employed through contractors on building operations are not eligible for bonus, that was also amended in 2007, to include them also
