Payment due for 1 and half years.

We had generated a bill with GST invoice two years back(in2018). But the payment is due. Now, the customer is insisting to give a new bill (dated 2020) as he is not able to avail tax portion for the old bill.
Can we generate the new bill?? And what to do with the old bill?
please suggest

Raise credit note for the old bill if tax already has been paid. And raise new bill only if there is no other possibility
Thanks
Credit note can be issued if it's not applied to GST. Otherwise You can do with credit note.

Note : It's not Reverseable in GST returns.
Nothing will be possible
Earlier credit note has to be raised before 30th September however this was amended vide notification no 02/2019 29th Jan 2019.. Linking of credit note with invoice is not mandatory anymore.
You can issue GST Credit Note only till 6 months from date of supply.
Credit note cannot be raised since it is time expired case which effects closing balance of the last two years.
Are you dealing with goods or services

@ Mr KRISHNAN KP.,

Is any difference if supplied goods or services as per query...?
But what is the option to collect due from the customer in this case?? He has not accounted that bill..
The mistake is from the side of customer and not from u.....
It was his duty and responsibility to properly check 2A incase of any missed invoice and claim the same before due date of Sept of Next FY.
So you have legal right to collect amt due irrespective of whether he claimed ITC or not.

ya very much true from above reply
