Is is now possible to hold part-time Certificate of Practice in addition to regular fulltime employment. If possible, can he sign various reports and certificates. Can he attend bank audits etc., Whether, such audits are allotted or not ?

Hi,
Even if you hold part time COP. A part time CA cannot sign any reports and certificates. I think so he can take up the audit but that to again he should not have any personal interest nor can he take the audit of the organisation where he is in full time employment coz that affects the independence of the auditors. Even though such audits are alloted, but the organisation prefers to appoint an Independent CA rather then a part time CA.
Regards,
Rachit.

Hi, Still no concrete answer. There have been two side arguments/explanations. One such is that there is no concept of part-time of COP and the other is though part-time COP can be held but with certain limitations. But Form 2 (membership application) contains column 14 which can be understood easily that part-time COP is feasible. If still any restrictions, institute is expected to be made available alongwith the application. Is n'it so ?

Hi, recently I had gone through the CA Regulations wherein there is no bar for this. However, the candidate need to take specific permission from the Council. But what is the procedure for this ? Can anyone please about this ?

Hallo co-CAs,
Enclosed is the full text of CA Regulations, Amendments to Regulation 190A and the letter addrssed to members in 2004 which is being given/sent to new members too. This will clarify all our doubts regarding part-time COP. As per the personal discussion with one of the top officials of SIRC, ICAI, it is understood that attestation cannnot be done by a part-time COP who holds certain specified posts without specific permission. What is attestaion is also defined therein in the enclsoed files. In nut shell, attestation cannot be undertaken but certification can be done. Only one file can be uploaded here. Hence refer trailer messages for rest of attachments.

Sandhya, which exam you meant ? Of course, for any examination, no need to hold either part time COP or full time COP.
