PAN OF TRANSPORTER

Dear members

I want to know that while making payment to transporter how can our client know that the PAN that transporter is giving is in the name of that transporter for the purpose of deducting tax after 01.10.2009?

you can apply for pan validation utility from nsdl.

or u may ask the vendor to provide photocopy of PAN Card.

or you can try the trick provide in the below link

But is it practically possible that our client (small businessman) will visit at NSDL office or visit at NSDL site.

If you can not access the internet than1 thing you can do only. just ask the vendor to provide photocopy of PAN Card.

You can also ask the transporter to put up their PAN No. on their bill by way of rubber stam OR pre-printed.

Furnishing the PAN on the bill/invoice will be the suitable solution.

Hello,

Is there any threshold for TDS on Transport after 01-10-2009? for eg if transport charges of Rs 5000 is paid and the Truck Owner does not submit the PAN details then whether Tax is to be deducted at source since this will be the total amount which will be paid to the truck owner till 31-03-2010
