a person has lost his pan card 4 years ago & since than he has not been filing his return. on that pan card his name was spelt wrongly.
what is the procedure to get a new pan card with correct name.in last 4 years his income was above taxable limit ,will a fresh application for pan card entail notice u/s 142

he has to file rectification in pan card for his name, for that purpose he will get a new pan card with correct name but same pan number.
if he dont like to have that pan card, then he can cancell the same, and get new pan card. but keeping silence may invite troubles, as the pan card which is lost is alive.
will the department ask for surrender of older pan card in lieu of new pan card
the person has lost it he is not having it right now
he can file a GD with local police station and submit in place of pan card lost

2. for last 4 years, you should file return last 2 year without panlety and for 2 year AO can make penelty u/s 271 F.
Dear Sachin,
Keeping more than one PAN card may attract penalty from IT Deptt.
Kindly fill Form no. 49 and apply for your old PAN and apply for rectification in details, if any.
