professional tax is a direct tax levied by state govt.slabs may vary from one state to another.levied and collected by concerned state govt from employees.Employer deducts from gross salary and remit to state govt
It will never be more rs 2500 per annum as per constitution of India. lesser amount is possible as per state legislature decision.
