I have received Assesment order by Notice of demand under section 156 of the income-tax act 1961 for paying tax for huge amount.
Any possiblities of reducing of my tax by appealing to commisioner under an appeal under Part A of Chapter XX of the Income-tax Act, 1961, to the Commissioner of Income-tax (Appeals) ".

Yes you can easily appeal against the demand notice and assessment order in CIT (Appeals) or CIT within 30days and one year respectively.
Also note that you need to take a stay order for the demand notice or else you will be regarded as assessee in default and liable to penalty and interest u/s 220 and 221 if you do not pay the taxes as per demand notice within 30 days.

If you prove to CIT that your income has been wrongly assessed and that your Tax liability is lower than stated in demand notice, then the modifications will be made by the CIT u/s 264.
