The new Companies Act 2013 has prescribed the maximum number of members in case of a partnership firm should not be more than 100 in case of partnerships. As per the previous companies Act 1956, the maximum limit in case of partnerships was 10 and 20 for banking business and other business respectively.
In case of private companies, the maximum limit has been increased by the new Companies Act 2013 from 50 to 200.There is no maximum limit on the number of members in a public company
The minimum number of members in case of a public company is 7 and in case of a private company is 2. In case of a partnership, the minimum number of partners is 2.
