NEW DELHI: The Singapore government, a client of tainted Satyam Computer Services
, on Tuesday said it has been reassured of getting continued
quality service from the IT firm, and the fraud at the company will not damage the image of Indian IT sector.
"There are so many other bluechip and great companies (in India), so I would like to think that it (the Satyam case) is a single case," the Ambassador-at-large, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Singapore, Tommy Koh, told reporters here today.
He was responding to a question if the Satyam case has damaged India's IT reputation.
Commending the swift action taken by the Indian government in appointing a new board of the troubled firm, Koh said, "I think we have been reassured that the quality of service that we used to get from Satyam will not be impacted."
He, however, said "what happened at Satyam came as a surprise and shock to us".
Rallying behind the employees of Satyam, he said, "I think what has happened at Satyam, hopefully when full accounting is rendered, is a result of lack of integrity of just two individuals ... We should not punish many thousands of people who work in Satyam."
