Is there any penalty for late filing of nil income tax return for an individual for AY 2018-19?

Yes, minimum Rs. 1000/-

As per rules, no late filling fees; but IT software calculates that.

minimum late filing fee Rs.1000/-

For aggregate income below 2.50L there should not be any late fees.

for nil return there is no penalty...
