My friend has a commercial property (shop) that he has letout and received rent for it. Does he need to have a ST number and needs to pay ST?

if rent received is more than 10 lacs in the year then YES he has to get ST registration
Hi subham, okay but since the assessee is an ordinary citizen with no business, ST application document list requires copy of properttership/business deed etc so how will he get it?? Cant he just give his PAN copy and get an ST number?
You can get a simple propertership deed from notary.
ID proof of proprietor
address proof of place of business.
