New procedure to view form 26as

Hello

I'm just trying to file the returns of my aunt who is an NRI. I see that the procedures to view Form 26AS has changed recently . I'm asked to register .. But when i fill the details I always get 'Invalid Name'... Does anone here know the recent procedures to register and view Form 26AS..please reply asap

first you have to register on Income tax india Website.

You (should) remember that while applying for PAN they ask your anme NEXT how you would like your name to be printed on the card.

Your aunt's card might be bearing the name she likes to have on the card. This "may not be" acceptable to site while registering. So you should know her full name and how did she fill the form i.e. first name, middle name Last name etc.

If you can't / do not want to contact her for this simple thing here is a short cut method.

From one site or the other go to payt ax online there fill the PAN No. on the next screen your aunt's full name appears. Depending on this you can decide what could be the first name, middle name, Last name

then fill up.

To register, you must enter the name of the assessee as it appears in the PAN Card. It could be that the first name, middle name and the surname you are trying to enter in order to register do not coincide with the manner in which the name was entered at the time of issue of PAN Card. So try different combinations of First name, middle name and surname till error does not appear on the screen.Then proceed. Ensure that there is no difference in the date of birth. Then the fathers name also could pose a problem in the same way as the name of the assessee. Once you are through you will get a link to your email address.Log in to that to activate your acount. The process of registration is user friendly. You can navigate through it easily. Once you log in look into My Account on the top right corner to viwe form 26 as.

Provide User id : This is nothing but the PAN of the assessee ( If you are already registered ) if not then click on this link https://incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in/e-Filing/Registration/RegistrationHome.html

follow the instruction. you will see the 26AS.
