In my office one of the employee done mistake...now plz suggest me how to resolve tht..

One Incometax retrun for assesment year 2009-10 filed in 1(4) by mistake...orignly it belongs to 4(2)..n assessee have refund of 26000..now refund yet not  come..due to mistake.....now wht procedure for rectified mistake???

Meet the AO at 1(4) and produce the IT Ack informing him abt the mistake thru a letter and request him to transfer the return to the correct circle.

Also file a copy of the letter along with the copy of the IT Ack to the correct circle.

Can anyone tell me what is this 1(4) and 4(2)....

These represent Income Tax Ward Number. These are same as we see in Hospitals - different types of patients are treated in different wards. 

Bt incometax wards are defined as 1, 2, 3 like this na.....Then 1(4),What  this bracket no.represents for i.e.(4)

1(4) means:

Range/Circle/JCIT No. 1

and

(4) means Ward Number. 

.

In general we say it ward number 1(4).

Dear All,

As per my knowledge, if somebody wrongly submit the return in the wrong word/circle/range, The Income Tax People transfer the return to  the correct word/circle/range.

Don't worry for that.
