In an interview, mainly the following types of questions are asked.
1. Questions to check your Communication Skills: (Also known as HR Questions): The most basic question in all kinds of interviews is “tell me something about yourself”. There is no intention of a recruiter to know about you, since everything is written on the CV in his hand. The intention here is, to know how efficiently you can communicate. It is the most common question, even then half of the candidates are not able to answer it properly. Ideally, answering this question, you should speak about your Academic background, Experience and personal packground. Apart from this question, other questions like “Why do you want to join this company”, “Why should we hire you”, “strengths and weaknesses” are asked to check your communication skills and how promptly you reply to them.
2. Questions to Check your Awareness: There will be some questions to check your awareness. It may be anything. From London Olympics to Anna Hazare’s protest against corruption, from NASDAQ Index to Chief Minister of your state. For this, just roll over some pages of any good newspaper everyday. Also, if you are not sure about any answer, simply say “I am not following this news”. There is nothing to worry about if you say this, but this answer cannot be for all the questions.
3. Questions to check your Attitude: This is an important area where the interviewer will ask something, which can create a debate. It is on the candidate how calmly he handles it. He may ask to express your opinion on any political issue. The best answer is to remain neutral. Don’t take a side and express your opinion based on the facts which are right.
4. Questions to check your knowledge: This will majorly cover the questions from the subjects we have read during CA.
5. Questions to check your Integrity: This area is not very popular, but there are some recruiters who test your integrity. They will give you a situation where you have to decide what to do in order to get a job done. You need to follow the ethical way of doing things. So your answer should be based on the best practices followed in the business.
6. Questions to check your Goals: The questions asked in this area are – “Where do you see yourself after Five years”, “what are your goals in life”, “what you want to achieve in you life”. You need to be very specific answering this question. My suggestion is to draft your goal in advance. Because this question will be asked to you everywhere.
