u can look at this way too ... each friend contributed 24 , that is total 72 rupees ... out of that the waiter keeps 2 rs .. so net is rs 70 that goes with the cashier .... and the cashier had given 5 rupees discount on the total bill of rupees 75 .. so it goes like this
72-2=75-5=70

It is very simple
They contributed 24*3=72 , Rs 70 is with the cashier and Rs 2 is with the waitor.
The process of adding 72 and 2 to find total is fallacious.

In this question trick was Rs 2 NOT Rs. 1
All of us are running for Rs.1 thatswhy every body did the calculation in there own way..
Before Madhu no one was thought that Rs. 2 included in 72 ONLY.
Every one was adding and try to come with the solution

Moral of the Story
Dont try to investigate only those things which other says
Its not necessary that whatever u can see thats true
Some time you have to change your angle.
Try to use your brain also and think differently
Because there is just one line diff between smart people and Normal Person
Normal People always do those things which we tell them to do
But smart person try do that thing differently
