05 August 2012While filing ITR, wrong Date of Birth (month 11 instaead of 1) was was filled. What problems can it cause and how to rectify the mistake? Thanks, RAKESH

U can File revised return within 7 days making d required changes

@ Rakesh , The Retired Computer Professional,
It's not a serious issue unless you are getting any benefit of Senior Citizenship.
Nothing to do if there is no slab benefit.
The word "Retired" makes me to point out this aspect.
However ....."Computer Professional".... shows that you are not a sufferer by doing this mistake.

Dear Rakesh,
It is not a problem as far as IT return is considered. Only thing u need to remeber is that for opening ur ITR V and 26AS etc, u need to give ur correct DOB.

Thanks for the responses. I feel relaxed. Luckily I am > 61 years old (DOB 6-1-1951) so even mistake in month (11 instead of 1) will not change my Senior Citizen status for ITR for FY 2011-12 & I can try to opening ITR V usinng both DOBs. It should open with one DOB.
