Can MAT carried forward in previous years can be set off in curent year even if the return is filed late?

The provision is silent about this issue however, the courts have allowed the MAT credit in certain specified circumstances. You can refer this case - Commissioner Of Income Tax vs Cosmo Films Limited on 6 February, 2009.
