Yes, there is such provision in Excel. First type alphabets from a to j somewhere in the worksheet and then Select the rows/columns in which above rule should be applied and then select Data Menu, then choose Data Validation (in Data Tools Tab) and Choose Settings Tab, then in Allow option select List and target the list of a to j typed earlier and press ok. Its done. You can also create Error Alert after Setting tab. Hope this helps.

Step1:-Go To Data Validation in Data option
Step2:-Then Select settings,and from the drop down box select List option
and then enter a,b,c…..so on and at last ok...
