Dear all, is there any function for the following: I want to put either of the 10 characters? like the ans of a cell come with, a b c d e f g h i j! no other alphabet should come... ?

Well i am not that clear with your question but i think you are speaking about list function under data validation check in google regarding list function in excel.if this is not the function that u needed kindly elobrate your question

Yes, there is such provision in Excel. First type alphabets from a to j somewhere in the worksheet and then Select the rows/columns in which above rule should be applied and then select Data Menu, then choose Data Validation (in Data Tools Tab) and Choose Settings Tab, then in Allow option select List and target the list of a to j typed earlier and press ok. Its done. You can also create Error Alert after Setting tab. Hope this helps.
